Ruxpin

Born in 1981, Icelandic electronic musician Ruxpin (Jonas Thor Gudmundsson) first started producing music at the age of 14. His first release the Mission EP was released on Thule Record’s more chillout imprint Uni:Form Recordings in 1999. Later that year Uni:Form released Gudmundsson’s first full length Radio. The highly acclaimed Elektrolux (Germany) imprint took notice of Radio and subsequently released his next two LPs (Midnight Drive & Avalon), alongside with one LP on their sublabel Mikrolux. In late 2006 he released Elysium which was also released via Elektolux’s Mikrolux imprint. In early 2009 Gudmundsson’s sixth full length entitled Where Do We Float From Here? was released digitally via n5MD’s Enpeg Digital imprint. Ruxpin has since signed on to n5MD for the physical release of Where Do We Float From Here? as well as future releases by Gudmundsson’s Ruxpin alias. Jonas has done various live shows with artists such as MúM, Biogen, Alex Paterson, Bola, Yagya, Jega and many more. Various live shows in Belgium, Iceland, Denmark, Netherland, France, Latvia, Estonia & Catalonia

The Microphones

The Microphones was a lo-fi band based in Olympia, Washington, and fronted by Phil Elvrum. Elvrum is the principal member of the band, but he has collaborated with many other musicians on his records.

In 2004, Elvrum announced that he had changed the name of his band to Mount Eerie, and has since put out many releases as Mount Eerie, including three full-length albums. In January 2007, Elvrum released a new single under the Microphones moniker, titled Two Songs by the Microphones, the only Microphones release since the name change. He has since continued to release music as Mount Eerie.

Active Child

Active Child is the electronic-meets-choral project of musician Pat Grossi. Growing up in New Jersey, Grossi sang with the Philadelphia Boys Choir and was influenced by the rhythms of ‘80s alternative dance bands like New Order. Combining these elements with his otherworldly falsetto, live harp, and evocative lyrics, Active Child was born. The project debuted in 2010 with an EP, Curtis Lane, for Merok Records. These soaring soundscapes caught the ears of bliss popsters School of Seven Bells, who later toured alongside Active Child; they remixed each other’s songs for a split 7”. Active Child’s first full-length recording, You Are All I See, followed in summer 2011 on the Vagrant label, taking listeners on an intimate journey of the highs and lows of relationships and identity.

Heavy, psychedelic, instrumental rock music. Recorded in the summer of 2006, this gem sat dormant for some time before we picked it up as our first full-length release, though it briefly attracted the attention of Battle Kommand Records. Strong guitar playing with big chords and memorable melodies is paired with a backbone of sweetly technical drumming, with a delicate layer of cinematic ambience over the top.

What The Blood Revealed

What The Blood Revealed hail from Ayrshire on the west coast of Scotland. They came together in late 2004 and have created a sound which lies somewhere between alt-rock and post-metal. In 2007 What The Blood Revealed released their self-titled debut EP and the band is currently at work on their first full length effort.

What The Blood Revealed have already drawn comparisons with bands such as Red Sparowes, Tides and Isis and are highly recommended to all fans of this particular genre.

Dom Mino’ (Domenico Mino’) is an artist who’s currently living in London. His tunes are exceedingly soft and delicate. Even though they’re played and controlled mainly by the electronic sounds, his “sweet pop music” somehow reminds us the typical Japanese lyricism, yet also have the daydream-like comfortableness. In his past, Dom Mino’ provided some of his tunes for the short films and animation pieces by a video artist Ed Holdsworth and created a huge sensation after those video pieces have made appearances on BBC website.

Born in Japan, 1982. She was raised in Southern California and the Midwest, where she attended boarding school and ISU. Her early/mid 20′s were spent in a sweltering, coastal Florida city where she was not fond of hurricane weather. She has been residing in Seattle, WA since early 2009. She first started playing the piano at the age of 8, the guitar at the age of 15, and has always had an interest in taking photographs of everything in sight. In addition to hopefully finishing an ambient/instrumental album under the moniker CASCADIAN, she also hopes to finish a screenplay by mid-2011

The idea was to create a collection of relaxing sounds which would help induce sleep.

Having begun playing piano young growing up in a musical family, Sophie started writing properly in her teens – indeed, the opening piece Seventeen is named for her age at the time it was originally composed, though all on Becalmed have been developed and improvised on since their original form.
Sophie’s compositions move from disarmingly spare and elegant beginnings to curl out with a tingling edge, propelling its austerity into urgent and epic realms. Violin, cello, drums, percussion and organ heighten the flight these pieces can take as well as dip and swell within the more dimly lit moods of gentler nuance, casting a particular spell across the range of feeling captured in Sophie’s playing. Both unfussed and exquisite though constantly evolving, the inspired measure of Becalmed is found in the space it inhabits between the meditative and evocative.

En Plein Air

Violin and cello brings you to the ocean of nostalgia and melancholia, lovely guitar melodies are the dolphins swimming with you; but it doesn’t mean that you may face chaotic storms with guitars and drums gone crazy. It is En Plein Air from Rome, Italy we are talking about. Their music can find a place in the genre of post-rock but when you listen to them, you realize how their classical and jazz influences affect their music.

Their live performances both in their country and abroad are said to be pleasing. A magazine calls watching them live “smells like the wood of the ancient instruments projected into the future”. One more interesting detail: They are the first group in Europe to play live for virtual pub of the game 2nd Life.

your ten mofo create their own individual versions of hymns always one step off the beaten track of established musical understanding; a dulcet melody on the verge of silence, a fragile whisper out of a remote crevasse, a violin slowly working its way to the foreground; gradually, one perceives fragments presented as a whole. Structured grooves and bass lines direct the way through the imagined landscapes – landscapes that are finally completed by instruments like vibraphone, glockenspiel and strings. One finally catches oneself enjoying getting lost in the wondrous world of sound - a touching world, but without leaving the least clichéd or cheesy smack.
